ATA-DC has many opportunities for you to be a part of our team. Join one of our committees or help us out at an event. There are plenty of ways to help as we work to promote better understanding between the American and Turkish people.

Or join the Ataturk school and help teach our youth about the Turkish language and culture, and maybe help some adults learn too!

How to Volunteer

THE IMPACT WE HAVE IN OUR COMMUNITY

ATA-DC brings the Turkish-American community together while sharing Turkish culture with the wider public. Through our educational programs, cultural events, and community initiatives, we have:

– Engaged hundreds of youth each year through the Atatürk School and YCAP programs.

– Hosted annual cultural and civic events, including Republic Day, International Women’s Day, fundraising galas, and the ATA-DC Festival, which draws over 20,000 visitors each year, providing opportunities to experience and learn about Turkish culture.

– Published ATA News Magazine, keeping our community informed and connected
Strengthened ties between the Turkish-American community and local organizations, promoting understanding and collaboration.

Through these efforts, ATA-DC not only preserves Turkish heritage but also cultivates education, unity, and cultural exchange within our community and beyond.

Our Programs

The Atatürk School for Children

The ATADC Atatürk School has been teaching the Turkish language and culture to children since 1980.

The goal of the school is to provide Turkish language and culture classes for Turkish-American children so that they may retain important aspects of Turkish culture while growing up in the United States. Children learn in a fun, yet structured, environment.

Young Cultural Ambassadors Program

Open to high school students from across the United States, the program is run in a hybrid format and aims to empower youth leaders through civic engagement, volunteerism, and cultural diplomacy. Participants attend lectures by experts in a variety of fields including entrepreneurship, politics, academics, diplomacy, art as well as others. Participants also complete both individual and team projects.
